Album release: Tamara Lukasheva & INSO Lviv Orchestra "Anima"

28.06.2024 |

The German-Ukrainian singer and composer Tamara Lukasheva has released the album “Anima” on Tangible Music together with the International Symphony Orchestra Lviv.

“I don’t want to sing these songs with anger, hatred or aggression, instead I want to give something comforting. I want to bring us back to the state of humanity,” says Tamara Lukasheva about her newly released music. “Anima”, which means “soul” in Latin, reflects Lukasheva’s deep-rooted belief in the power of music to express emotions and unite people.

The German-Ukrainian artist, who grew up in a musical household and trained in classical piano, combines jazz, chanson and elements of classical music in her works without limiting herself to a specific genre. Her songs, some of which she composes and arranges herself, have a tender but untamed power, which is further enhanced by the participation of trumpeter Matthias Schriefl and INSO Lviv, especially during the war-related recordings in October 2023.

On “Anima”, Lukasheva dedicates herself to the representation of themes such as justice, democracy and human rights, which she defends through the power of her music and artistic expression. Her lyrics, some of which come from poets such as Theodor Fontane and Clemens Brentano, are of universal relevance and address global conflicts, but also offer personal insights into Lukasheva’s own experiences and feelings.

With “Anima”, Tamara Lukasheva reaches a new level of musical creativity that not only impresses but also inspires. Her songs are an appeal to humanity, a poetic counterweight to the challenges of our time. She combines her diverse musical influences to create an impressive overall picture that both reflects reality and offers a space for recovery and renewed vigour. This album is not just a collection of songs, it is a movement, a voice that needs to be heard to grasp the full depth of its message.

From 2019 to 2023, Tamara Lukasheva was supported by NICA artist development in her individual artistic profiling and professionalisation. We are delighted that we were able to accompany Tamara part of her journey with the opportunities offered by the programme and congratulate her on the release of “Anima”.
